World Food Safety Day: oncological nutrition, 0 km products, sustainability

english cover day

Today is World Food Safety Day.

The ARTOI Foundation has always been attentive to food as prevention, promoting healthy, sustainable food that respects the Earth, people, seasonality, biodiversity, and short supply chains.

Food plays a fundamental role in the onset of cancer, according to new scientific discoveries. That’s why ARTOI has been talking about Oncological Nutrition for years, as an essential and useful component of cancer patient therapy.

Dr. Massimo Bonucci, President of the ARTOI Foundation, stated that food, in light of new scientific findings, represents not only how we eat but also what, how much, and when we eat. Serious diseases like cancer are attributed to 37% of food-related factors. Therefore, food can be both a cause and a potential cure for these diseases.

Food safety is a shared responsibility among governments, producers, and consumers. Everyone has a role to play, from the farm to the table, to ensure that the food we consume is safe and healthy.

On World Food Safety Day, the ARTOI Foundation also establishes a fruitful collaboration aimed at promoting prevention at the table, as well as sustainability, respect for the planet, biodiversity, seasonality, and short supply chains.

This partnership involves the Italian (Sicilian) Chef Maurizio D’Urso, who came into contact with the ARTOI Foundation through its member, Dr. Salvatore Bonanno.

With the supervision of Dr. Massimo Bonucci, President of the ARTOI Foundation, and Dr. Marina Aimati, a specialist in Nutritional Sciences, Chef D’Urso has created a true “well-being tasting menu.” The menu is primarily designed for oncology patients but serves as excellent preventive food for all clients of the Bio Relais I Carusi, located in Noto, in the municipality of Syracuse.

It is a balanced, healthy, delicious menu that respects the Earth and people, aligning with the principles of World Food Safety Day.”
